the Detonation , the low oil pressure, and the knock sensor

Just for starters I have a disabled knock sensor and the car was performing very well the first day it was gone.
Well NOW the car is detonating for sure. Mostly when I'm in boost. I noticed my oil pressure is alot lower than usual too.(could be sending unit still original one).

Heres my question. If low oil pressure is causing detonation, will the knock sensor take care of it?

I'm scared I'll just be hiding the "low oil pressure" problem when I put the knock sensor back in. Any thoughts or suggestions? What would cause the low oil pressure?

I never heard of low oil pressure causing detonation, but if you're detonating, retard your timing, reconnect the knock sensor, or both. Could be due to water temperature, too. If low oil pressure is a concern, use a thicker oil. If you prefer to keep the knock sensor disconnected, retard your timing by a couple degrees and see what happens. I notice when a sender starts going bad, the oil pressure redings start getting erratic, not low. Not trying to worry you, but low oil pressure isn't good; check the oil when you drain it for junk that shouldn't be there, use a pen magnet to check for metal in the oil. Remember to fill up with a thicker oil.
