Will flow matched 19# injectors work with my 355??

Ok, I'm building a 355 for my car and I'm not going very outrageous with the mods!! Decent aftermarket heads, XE262 cam ground on a 114LSA, ported stock plenum and intake, headers, and an Ed Wright Fast Chip! Aftermarket MSD ignition will be added in the future!! Now if I send my 19# injectors to some place like Cruzin' Performance to have them cleaned and flowmatched will the 19# injectors be sufficient enough for the 355?? Should I get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator also...and if so, what should I set the pressure at??

I did the math and figured out I'm losing 100 possible HP by not going to 30lb injectors. I would definatly recommend some 24lb injectors for your application. They are enexpensive just look in our classifieds or go to www.camaroz28,com and look in thier FOR SALE board, they have of 4thgenners upgrading injectors all the time and you can get a good set of LT-1 injectors fr 60-80 bucks. Dont even try the 19lb injectors or you'll just be changing them out again.

I agree.. Definately don't waste your time on those 19 lb. injectors. The motor will run way lean and probably cough and sputter when under heavy acceleration. I just finished my 355 project and I am using 24lb. injectors. My mods are fairly mild (AFR 190s, 218in,228ex cam, stock TPI induction and CUSTOM chip) and it runs perfect. I run at about 50 psi fuel pressure with the aftermarket adjustable regulator. So, yes you need one of those too. These are cheap things, dude. Spend a little $$$ now so that you won't be sorry later.

Just for a third opinion, I agree too. Either go with 24# SVO's or maybe some 23# Accels and bump up the fuel pressure. Those 19# may work at high pressures, but you'll be putting in a new fuel pump eventually too if that's the route you take. Just my $0.02.

As long as those injectors are tested by Rich so you know they match, they will work on a mild 350. #19 injectors should support about 350hp. Are they optimal for that combo, probably not. You might look to pick up a used set of LT1 injectors, those can be had for about $50 and just have them tested.

BTW, it's not the fuel pump you will wear out at higher pressures, it's the injector itself.

19's will work for your setup, but will be a limitation at some point. You can up your fuel pressure (by 10 psi I recall) and the 19's will act like 22's ... if they can flow at the higher pressure. A flow test will tell you how good they are at a higher pressure.

If you are getting a custom chip burned, then that is where you tell the ECM what you have. Much can be done in the prom to accomodate for the injectors. So keep that in mind. If you change your injectors later, you will need to redo your prom to take advantage of them.

Consider the cost of getting them cleaned (account for shipping and any parts you need). Then look at new ones. There is not too much difference.

I am running 19's on a modified 350. It runs quite well. I run 55 psi to get my block learn around 128. I know my injectors flow at 55 since I had them tested when I had them cleaned.

I am going to seriously consider 24's, but only after I get my prom burning stuff up and running.

Mark.

Cost of getting them cleaned - $10/injector for a grand total of $80 through Cruzin' Performance.

Cost of the new ones - $220/set

I think that's a big enough difference. I'm probably just gonnna see about picking up a used set of LT1 injectors and having them cleaned and flowmatched!
