Fuel Injection and "Lumpy" cam?'s
If I recall correctly, the Lobe Centerline Angle determines how "lumpy" a cam sounds. I notice that TPI & LT1 cams have an LCA of 112 or 114. I'm rebuilding a 95 LT1 to swap in and the specs I'd like to use are 234/242 @.050 and .539/.558 Lift w/ 108 LCA. Will this work if I have the PCM reprogrammed? Any drivability problems like no vacuum, stalling, or no power brakes? Thanks

Well, it'll work with the PCM reprogrammed, but vacuum will be a problem...This just means that your lead foot will get a work out...Honestly, i'd go with something around 112LSA, that cam doesn't look too streetable to me...But then again, i'm still learning the whole cam thing.

It will be a 383. I'm waiting on GM to release the 3.80" crank seperately that's in the HT 383 crate engine. I plan on using the 5.94" PM connecting rods. I'm gonna do extensive work on the heads or use AFR LT4 Heads and a Hydra-Rev Kit. So, I realized that I'll have to have the PCM reprogrammed. I know GM used a cam very similar to this in their LT1 they swapped into their raceshop 91Z. They now sell a factory style roller cam with the same specs (pn 12370847) but it has a 112 LCA. I'd like to go as low as I can on the Lobe Seperation Angle though, so I may see about getting a custom grind that has the same lift and duration. I don't want to cause any driveability problems though.

Thanks TPI383, you inspire many of us! I'm swapping in the T56 with the LT1 so I don't have to worry about stall converter. I also plan on using Hooker 1 3/4" Full Length Headers and custom 2 1/2 duals (mandrel bent). Which will help with the cam. When I say driveability I mean:
1) Power brakes and other accessories still work.
2) No stalling
3) Not having to give it gas in neutral at red light to prevent from stalling.
Also, what kind of power can I expect with this cam and the the parts I've listed? I plan on using around 10.8-11:1 compression. I expect the motor to make power between 2500 and 65-6700 RPM. Does this sound right?
Thanks for the replies. tHe dRaiN
