WTF? RPM gauge stuck, runs great?
I was driving trhough town and my RPM needle suddenly went to 3000 RPM but my engine didn't rev up any, it ran better than ever before. Before it was idling anywhere from 500 to 800 and jump to 1000 then back to 500 RPM. It's the LB9 stock engine. What do you think this might be? Why would the RPM gauge do this? Any help greatly appreciated...

Car: 85 Z28
Engine: 305 TPI (dead) -> building 355
Transmission: 27 spline 700R4 (another one died) -> T5 goin in next
IT'S POSSESSED, you are gonna have to call an exorcist.
Well no, not really. The only thing I can think of is that one of the wires shorted out and is getting a constant voltage input to the TACHOMETER a.k.a. RPM gauge.

well i could be that your system was drawing too much current from having a short... thus making the spark irratic...
so when the wire shorted through, it may have caused the drain on the electircal system to stop... thus restoring proper voltage to the coil and giving better spark...
