thanks for the replies guys.
How come there is a different manifold for aftermarket heads when they have the same bolt pattern. Does the one for the aftermarket heads flow better or something?
thanks again

I think some heads have a different angle in which the bolts toward the front of the intake mount. I remember some time ago someone talking about having to elongate the holes in the intake for this problem. I want to say maybe with the ZZ4 heads but not sure.

Kevin,
I do have after market heads. I am not sure on the bolt pattern, i know that they are center bolt. Currently I have a TBI performer manifold, so would I want the one for stock heads or aftermarket heads? thanks alot

im not 100% sure because my uncle built the engine for me, but i know that they are world products heads with 2.02, 1.60 valves. I dont know if you call it decking or shaving, but that has also been done to make sure they are perfectly flat on the bottom. sorry i dont know alot about it all. Ive only been really into engine stuff for like 8 months or so. thanks for your help.

Re: Edelbrock TPI part number
Didn't want to start a new thread, so here it goes...
What exactly is the difference between 3890 and 3891? I thought 85-92 used the same heads and bolt patterns... or is it that 3890 has the cold start injector hole and the 3891 doesn't... I need something that I will be able later on, say a few years bolt on an 87-92 350 with Trick Flow heads...but from what I can see the heads come with center bolt engines... ok I think I have confused myself beyond repair.. ... someone clear the path..
Ok at this point I think it's the runners that change the part number of the combo, am I right? but why, are mounting holes different for different year plenums?

Pull the valve covers off and look for casting/stamped #'s

Re: Edelbrock TPI part number
Does this setup make a difference? Does it still have the same problem like the OEM TPI with no power after 4000 RPMs

Re: Edelbrock TPI part number
Aftermarket heads...... what if you're running an 89-92 TPI setup (no 9th injector) but using aftermarket heads with the older 86-down intake bolt pattern? You would need something that would work with that combo that never existed in a factory engine- late model runners but old bolt patern heads. And since the break-point between early and later intake bolt pattern heads happened in 87 you end up with 4 possible combinations of runners (9th injector vs. no 9th injector) and intake bolt pattern (early vs. 87-up).
Admittedly, the way Edelbrock describes the kits on their website is way out in the weeds, but there ARE four different combinations possible and they address all four in their offerings.
If it was me, I'd call Edelbrock directly and talk it through with them before you order.
BTW- welcome back after a 9 year absence!
