Differences? 1988 to 1989?

I had a 88 5.7 IROC some POS stole it and totalled it. I bought alot of performance goodies for the 88, professionally ported plenum, pro ported 52mm TB, extrude honed Accell SR intake Etc. I was waiting for the larger runners and was going to yank the motor and get it rebuilt before I added all the cool stuff. I just bought an 89 5.7 IROC. What if any will interchange? I know the plemuns and runners are different but what about the TB? Any help is appreciatted. May be having a sale! Thanks

I have some bad news for you about your base manifold. 89 was the first year that the cold start injector was deleted. Your base manifold is not compatible to work with the the cold start injector. Also in 89 GM changed the throttle cable to a better style for less slippage. You can reuse the throttle body but would have to spend the money to get a new cable from gm out of an 88. This is not a straight forward part swap like you were hoping for.

Everything is interchangeable. As far as the cold start issue is concerned, you can simply purchase a cold start elimination kit for a few bucks....

I don't remember the member's name, but run a search for cold start delete or elimination. I believe he had quite a few of them left over, but hopefully he didn't scrap them. Worst case scenario, eBay might have some up for sale...

Edit: Here you go....

Still need the throttle cable they are different for that year. 85-88 are the same and 89-92 was changed.
