12.24@112.5MPH .... ALL motor ...

Got back from MIR's GM EFI Shootout on Saturday. Managed a new best of 12.24@112.5mph. Backed that up with another 12.24@112mph. Backed that up with 12.25@112mph.

I am still running the stock bottom end of the motor and the tranny has never been rebuilt If you need an 11sec recipe look no further ... just check out the webpage. Given that I am running an automatic ... the manual guys should be able to pull 116mph in the 1/4 .... all naturally aspirated while still looking stock

With a good exhaust and a higher stall converter I should be able to pull some high 11sec ETs Right now I am running the SLP 1-5/8" headers into a 2-1/4" Y-Pipe .... way too small for my MiniRam motor. I'll be installing Hooker SuperComp long tubes, Mufflex 3" Y, and Mufflex 4" catback, upgrading my 2800 stall vig to a 3600 vig (gotta love the FREE stall upgrade!) and then I'll be going back to the track in search of that 11sec ET.

The coolest thing about my car is that it looks totally stock. Stock body panels and all. When I told them what I ran and showed them the timeslips they shook their heads ... ahahahah.

Those are excellent times ...what's even more impressive is that's quicker than a lot of boosted or sprayed cars on this board!

Thanks guys...

I am still running the same cam that I was running with my Semi-Siamesed Large Tube runner setup (218/224, 0.527/0.538 lift with 1.6s, 112LSA). I gained almost 5mph by switching to the MiniRam, running skinnies, dropping the front swaybar, and removing the seats. How much of that was due to the MiniRam? Realistically, probably 3mph. For me, this shows that the 218+ intake duration cams LIKE more intake. Heck, that was 3mph above the SS-LRTs. Imagine the gain over standard LTRs

I can't wait to get a 224/230 cam in this motor.

I am shifting 1-2 @ 6500rpms and 2-3 @ 6000rpms.

Nice work, bro.

What do you think your total investment ( minus car cost) was to get that level... just as a comparision.

I'm hoping to hit low 11's with my Z, N/A, single carb. I know that I have at least 9k invested so far. But I have a lot more chassis work done (Since Steve Spohn and all the other 3rd gen companies were not making the parts they are now at the time I started building. Sometimes I wish they were, but I think the ladder bar susp. is tough to beat.)

Do you think I have potentials to honestly hit 10 on motor????

This was the first car that I ever owned. Although it has not been running for a VERY long time, I will never give up til it is down the track. Not really that much more to go!

Just time and money.

Good luck and hope to see your car in the N/A 11 sec SBC club soon!

Nice timeslips Traxion!! However, that's only a tenth quicker than Mike Crew's car which is a LTR intaked Vortec headed 383 only putting 305hp / 412 ft lbs. to the rear with a tiny cam. With all the mod's that you've done, shouldn't you be DEEP into the 11's? Still a nice timeslip though! I hope to make my first 11 sec pass as soon as I get the car running torwards the end of this month. Good luck and your car DOES have alot more in it!

Yeah the ET is close, but if I recall, Mike's car only hit like 107-108 mph, while Trax got over 112, thats a big difference.

Soon my Friend....very soon. Spring broke in one of the rear brake drum assemblies(I know, disc will come later) while I was out tuning on the puter last week. Small set-back, but should be finished tomorrow. Weather is damn good now too!!

Holy crap! This post is old as all as fu(k. Life changes have kept me from getting things done sooner. New mods

Ported my AFR 190s
230/245 cam replaces the weenie 218/224
3600 Vigilante replaces the weenie 2800
Comp 'R' Lifters
Denny's Heavy Duty Driveshaft with 1350 yokes
Meziere Electric Water Pump
BBK 58mm TB replaces the 52mm
Hooker SC Long Tubes headers and Mufflex Y replaces the SLP 1-5/8"
S10 Steering box until I can figure out how to custom mount my PS
ES Poly Motor Mounts
Don Barnett Fabbed Vortech Supercharger bracket.
AFR HydraRev

We'll see what happens. I am getting very close to completion. Remember, I am still on the stock bottom end of the motor (never rebuilt) as well as the stock tranny (never rebuilt). Something is gonna give

Current progress - Pics are HUGE so broadband is recommended.

Traxion?

Are you running on the street at all with the electric waterpump? I have never seen anyone do that, but it seems like it would hold up. And free a lot of horsepower.

Thanks Nick

LT1 guys do it all the time. The Meziere has a 2500hr life expectancy. If you drove your car 10 hours a week then we are talking like 4.8 years.

Trax, how long has it been off the road? If I recall, you've been working on this round of mods for a while. Did you suffer from a bout of "whileit'sout" disease? I've contracted that several times

I've suffered from the "wow - I have a son" disease and the "wow - now my wife doesn't work and my financial income has been cut in half" disease.

Traxion, at what rpm are you shifting that beast. I would think your peak hp would be well over 6000rpms with that setup. I'm in the same boat as you with the stock bottom end, and not much cashflow. Just wondered how much abuse these things can take.
