I believe it will if you replace the throttle cable for the later type.

Re: 89-92 throttle body on a 88??
It is pretty easy. The 89-92 T/B is better because the pull setup is different and has no friction than the 85-88's. The throttle response is much smoother.
You will need to do a little contortioning inside the car and it helps to have another person outside to help fish the cable through. Should take maybe a half hour at the most. Just be super careful not to lose those little clips!!!

it's real simple. takes more effort to change your oil. the 89-up you don't need the clip only the cruise cable uses it.
unclip the tb cable and then go inside the car and pinch the ears on the plastic end attached to the gas pedal and it pops right out.
then look right behind the pedal at the firewall and pinch those as well and push the cable into the eng. bay.
feed the new cable back into the firewall, go inside the car and pull the cable housing until it clicks/fits into the firewall
slide the cable over and into the gas pedal rod push the plastic end into the hole.
now go install the new TB and loop the cable into the pulley. it's that simple! nothing else needed
