MAF -> speed density, l98 vette air assembly to make ram air functional.. w/in..
Ok, i just got the new USbody source Ram Air II hood on my GTA, and im going to attempt to make it functional soon. I have this for an idea: Convert car to speed density so I can use the air intake assembly off of a 90 L98 vette (long inlet to flat square assembly). turn assembly upside down and bolt to bottom of inlets on hood. What all is involved in converting to speed density? I know it involves at least the ecu, ecm, prom, wire harness, etc... Is this worth it? Are there other easier ways to make the ram air functional? thanks again

I don't know if it would work or not, but Suncoast Creations has a kit to make their ThirdGen Ram-Air hoods functional for $195.

it would be great if it worked with the acsd hoods . they are about 500 plus 195 for the kit or a modded vette kit still beats the close to 900 from suncoast.

Had the same question, and I think the answer is just to get a Vette MAF instead of going to the heartbreak of a MAF=> SD conversion.
Vettes used MAF, too, and had an air meter that mounted right to the snout of the TB, or close to it. Should (but this is no guarantee)snap right together.
Now, if you have designs for big hp, (350+) best to bite the bullet now and get it over with. SD alone won't make more or less power, but the programming and operating freedom makes a lot of things possible that otherwise wouldn't be.
Good luck,

Question: What is Speed Density, and MAF?? What are the main differences, and what is better??
(I keep seeing people talking about this, and I would like to be able to follow)
Thanks
