How long should a fuel rail hold pressure? (after the initial 20 minutes)
I know the leak down procedure and such.
How long should a fuel rail hold pressure, like 5psi or better?
1 day? 2 days? Really long?
I know I have leaking injectors, but it's only been 2 days and the fuel rail has zero pressure. I took off the cold start injector and did not even get a drip. Man, my injectors must really be leaking.
Just curious.
Mark.

fuel rail should hole pressure overnight,, so at least 10 hours..
DO THIS : pull your dipstick,, does it smell like gas?, and is the level higher that usual?.. if so then the injectors are leaking.. if not,, then i would assume that the fuel is returning back into the tank,, which could mean bad fuel pump.
is your car running rich???

For the fisrt half hour, your pressure should not drop at all. After that, you may loose a psi or two every hour, and it is normal. I wouldn't be worried if it doesn't hold overnight. But you should have FULL pressure after a half hour.

It may be that the checkvalve in the fuel pump is bad. I wouldn't replace the pump just for that. As long as you aren't having any problems, don't worry about it.

I have a nick in my regulator housing under the regulator and the pressure bleeds off in less than 30 seconds.
The main reason for the system to hold pressure is for an immediate restart of the vehicle right after you shut it off.
I have had no problems with my vehicle... and it has been like that for 2 years now....
