How to build for 5.o liter formula?
I have an L03 that I can use in car that needs to stay under 5 liters. The car is ~1000lbs lighter than a stock 3rd gen.
Things need to be done on the cheap since there are lots of other purchases to make not related to the engine.
I was thinking adding converted LT1 intake and heads, re-pin EFI for TPI, add a cam and "stuff".
Or, may be more cost effective to source a whole L99 and use the LT1 style heads and intake from that with the L99 crank to get ~302 cid. I have a 020 350 block that can be cleaned up (need to do math to see if +0.030 still is under 5 liters - I think so).
I'd like a ~7k RPM red line (working around 4.10 gears).
Which would be better for road racing you figure?
Think a T-5 will be adequately strong for either config? My thought was LT1 intake will keep low rpm torque lower, the car is 1000lbs lighter than a 3rd gen. The ~65lb weight savings over a T56 is my reason for considering the T-5.
Any input appreciated.
