ZZ4 Cam swap/ Have Question about Distributor Gear?
I put a ZZ4 Roller Cam in my buddys 350 roller block . He will be putting an 86 TPI set-up on it, which is the Hydraulic Flat tappet type HEI distibutor. Before we finish putting it together the question arose about the Factory distributor Gear being compatible with the Roller cam gear? Will this work or is a new Dizzy gear needed? Any help from someone who actually knows for sure how to proceed would be appreciated.

the ZZ4 Cam is a Iron Cam. I believe that when we put it in my motor, we had to make sure it was an Iron gear on the Dist. Not a brass one.
Dont take me to the bank on that, but I believe that was the case.

I think to be on the safe side you should use the melonized gear from GM.
