where is the ecm located on the 89 5.7 liter?

It is located on the passenger side and is under the dash. I don't think you have to remove the kick panel though.

All you have to do is look underneath the passenger side dash, it is easier to remove it with the dash out, but it can be removed with the dash still intact.

Did you ever see the ESPN commercial where the guy was talking sports out his a$$ because he didn't know any better and everyone laughed at him? Well this would be you right now. You DEFINITELY need to remove the passenger side kick panel to get the computer out! I believe there are 3 screws and a nut holding it in there. if you can look up and see the computer then you are MISSING the kick panel and you should go to the junk yard and buy one so your interior is complete!

Yeah there is definitely a panel right there above the passenger's feet.
