SVO Injectors
Anybody have this problem before or heard of what to do? I've done some searching and it seems people get SVO injectors to work just fine (some with the clips - some without).
Here's the story.
I bought Ford Motorsport blue top 24# injectors (SVO style) to replace my stock GTA injectors.
My OLD injectors just had 1 notch where the clip attached to lock the injector to the fuel rail.
The NEW injectors have 2 notches. 1 goes around the complete circumference, and the other is 2 half circles - but don't meet. Look at my attached pictures for reference.
To use the clips, you NEED to use the notch that goes around the entire circumference of the injector.
Problem is, that notch is situated a little different on the SVO injector than it is on the OEM. This ultimately makes it so the fuel injector cannot be completely seated in the fuel rail (and guess what.... thats bad )
So with the Ford injectors, I just didn't use the clips. I seated the injectors as far as they would go into the rail. Then after tightening the rail to the manifold, the injectors weren't seated at ALL into the manifold! I then pushed down on all of them to try and get a seal. As you can imagine, when I started the car and drove it, it didn't feel good. Loss of power, hesitation when accelerating, etc.
SO, thinking that I should try a different set of injectors, I bought a set of ACCEL 26# yellow tops. They have the exact same notches
So, I bought all new o-rings, installed the clips and installed the injectors into the rail and manifold. I then tried pushing down on all the injectors to be sure they seated as far as possible into the manifold.
I start the car and run it and it STILL feels like it hesitates a bit when I step on the gas. I'm goin to take the car for an extended drive soon so I'll be able to check out gas mileage, but I'm pretty sure I still have a problem.
Next step might be to check the fuel pressure. I haven't done that before so any tips and expected values would be greatly appreciated!

You have to push all the way into the manifold first then bolt rails on with no clips like you did the second time around. I've run a ton of SVO injectors before and no problems. Your problems sounds like something else.

I too have used the ford#24.I got some new GM o-rings from autozone. I used the stock clips on the top notch, the injectors felt loose in the rail, still I installed the injectors on the rail first and used a small amount of oil to help guide the injectors in the intake manifold, pushed the rail down and bolted it down. A year and a half later and no leaks.

i have used two different sets now. 30# and blue #24(current) and haven't had any problems. used GM o-rings each time and the factory clips in the top notch with a little oil on the o-rings. i tried to go without the factory clips once and had BAD leaks.

Well I'm using clips on the top notch and new o-rings (for the top of the injector going into the fuel rail) also. only thing i didn't do was put oil on the o-rings to help them sit, or replace the bottom o-rings that go into the manifold.
before i go and throw more $ at this, what can I look for to determine my injectors aren't seated correctly? I don't immediately see or hear any leaks.

dont mean to hijack your post but i'm lookin for a quick answer. when i reinstalled my oem injectors i broke one of the C type clips and ended up not using it. could this be causing a leak and be the reason for my rough idle? and how could i tell if it's leaking?

I have used the blue top 24#/hr Ford injectors since about 1997. I put the locking clip into the top groove, smear some motor oil on the top oring, and insert the injectors into the fuel rail. Then I oil the bottom orings & the intake fuel port, and install the fuel rail with injectors into the intake manifold. Then I bolt down the fuel rail. I have never had any fuel leaks.

the big question is why did you need to replace the stockers? felt like a good idea? failed? I would kinda like to know if you had a running problem befor. maybe bumped the dizzy?

MiTHRiL, did you ever check your fuel pressure? it should be about 43 psi with the vacuum line disconnected and about 37 to 40 psi with the vacuum line connected(engine running). a low fuel pressure would cause those symptoms as well.

Doubt the chip would make much of a difference because the stock are 22#.
I was having the worst time ever passing smog and I was told one of my injectors was bad (which may or may not have been the problem). https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/west...iend+emissions
I've replaced all my vacuum lines practically. My bolts for the runners into the manifold and plenum aren't the greatest, and I think a few threads on the manifold base are fux0rd. Likely have a bit of a vacuum leak there.
But, car still isn't running right. i've set my timing, replaced all plugs, wires, cap rotor, fuel filter, and the list goes on. full list of stuff is in the thread i just posted.
I need to buy a fuel pressure gauge, or have somebody hook up a scanner and see what's really going on with this engine.
