Ignition Module (What are most running)
I was just wondering what most of us are running for ignition modules. I currently replaced mine with a factory gm and it already went bad. I decided to buy a accel and so far so good with the addition of Artic Silver to the back of the module. It seems that the tpi have an issue with these and just wanted to see what people are having luck with. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the response. I hope that this cures my problem as next year I would like to go to the all gm nationals at carlise,pa. It is about a 5 hour drive and do not want it to quit on the way down or back.

I tried using the Pertronix aftermarket module. Two of them crapped out on me in very short order, so Summit gave me my money back. I went back to genuine GM.
I have heard the Accel modules are crap and will die on you at the most inopportune time.
Go to rockauto.com and buy a GM Delco replacement. They sell the 8-pin modules for about 55 bux.
If you want hotter spark, go with an MSD coil instead.

I've always had good luck with the GM ones. My original lasted for 15 years before going bad! When I went to the parts store to see about a new one, there was a big price difference between some of them. The parts guy said the cheap ones (GP Sorenson) have aluminum guts and the more expensive ones (Borg-Warner) had brass or copper, or something like that. The cheap one was about $45 and the expensive one was around $85. I ended up getting the cheaper one to get me by. Then I snagged another original GM one out of a distributor in the boneyard. I put the GM one back in and tossed the cheap replacement one in my console in case the one in the distributor dies unexpectedly. I do notice that it idles a little smoother and accelerates a little better with the GM one.

Looks like the majority go with delco. I'll probally go and buy a gm one and keep it in the car with me until the accel one decides to go. Thanks for all the replies on this question.

I've had plenty of issues with the stock ignition module, but not since i started using accel's high performance module ... and alot of dielectric grease.
