sluggish at 6* timing
Been going through this alot and am really confused now. I had a 350 instaleld in my 305 and have been tackling lots of issues. Basically have all new sensors and such, but i still get weak pulls at part throttle.
I can get on it hard and it does ok, but normal driving kind of sucks. I checked timing with est disconnected and its at 6. With the est plugged back in, its at 14.
I feel like I need to advance timing, but this thing should be running fine at the stock setting. What gives. Beginning to think my balancer was degreed correctly. Or could an improperly adjusted tv cable do this?

Have you tried adjusting the timing? It looks like you've done some work to the car. Go to the track and adjust the timing in 2* increments and see how it affects the cars time. You could also invest in a G-tech.

Get it on a sacnner and check things out.
Any type of fueling issue or even dpending on where it happens at IAC issue can cause hesitation as can bad grounds or failing parts like coils/modules/fuel pumps.
Any 90-92 350 car should net mid 14's at the strip with a 2.0 60ft. How good or bad are u from that mark.
Advacning timing in out cars tends to cause them to detonate, so if you experiment with timing, keep an eye on the plugs and the knock counts thru datalogging.

Got an aldl cable coming via mail for my laptop. So I'll check it out then.
I replaced new cap, rotor, coil, plugs, fuel filter, tp sensor, egr, coolant temp sensor.
But I think I may have finally (FINGER CROSSED ) figured out the problem. The install was sloppy and I dont think the shop adjusted the tv cable. I just adjusted it and it made a big difference in part throttle driveability. The problems I was having arent occuring after getting it nice and tight.
Ive been working at this off an on for the past six weeks!
When I got it back the fuel pressure was set way too high (adj regulator) and the timing was incorrect. Also I noticed when changing plugs that the through bolts to the motor mounts werent even close to tight (the nuts were started but never screwed down). So it looks like they never adjusted the tv cable either.
But never had this car on the track. Was waiting for the 350 as the 305 had close to 200k mi on it.
