VSS and Plastic gears to calibrate.....
Anyone have any part #'S or good sources for drive and driven gears for the T-5 non world class with the VSS instead of a cable.????
Trying to get finishing touches on car. Have a good VSS but seems like gears are not meshing with eachother therefore not turning VSS when driven. Showing 0mph at all speeds on speedo and in ECM datalogs.
Are th Mustamg T5 and Gm T5 similiar in regards to the speed gears?

Last I checked any factory manual should have the proper drive and driven gears for all various ratios.
A good parts counter person at a dealer should also be able to help you as well as most driveline specialty shops.

Thank you for your reply, I don't have a factory service manual (yet).
I searched here and it seemed like these may be discontinued? Maybe I am wrong, I sure hope so. I have the red/gray 6tooth 22tooth currently, problem is I am not getting anything past the buffer. I have been just going through everything one by one trying to figure out where the problem lies. And while I was at it thought I would get teh correct gears to calibrate the setup too. Is there info on how to test the buffer module in the FSM?

Find an AC Delco dealer, not Chevy/GM dealer. The dealer will tell you what you need is not available. I went to an AC Delco store in Chattanooga, and got a double handful of assorted gears, and I got a speedo plug for a Camaro Police 89-92 w/speedo output as well as VSS.

First of all, this should be in the Transmissions and Drivetrain forum, you'd get more exposure there.
Second, you need to tell us your tire size also, so that we can calculate the proper VSS gears for you and post the part #'s. I take it the 3.08 gear specification in your profile is correct?

Yup 3.08 gears,
225 55R16 tires in rear.
And what exactly is the Red drive gear, different sites list it as different tooth count? If I don't have to change it that would be great, if so oh well it is what it is. Trans is making funny noises anyway, so just might be mny excuse to pull it out.
Sorry didn't realize about the drivetrain forum, didn't know, thought since it was the VSS might get better help here.

The gears GM recommends are:
red 9-tooth drive gear, part #14053347
gray 22-tooth driven gear, part #14090595
If you already have these gears, they should work fine. Unless they've been installed incorrectly or damaged before installation.
You can trace the signal from the VSS, it's usually yellow and purple wire.
Not sure what your car is (it says Miata in your profile) but you mentioned a yellow buffer box. You might want to check the fuse for this box, it might be blown if nothing is coming out of it.

I want to thank you for your help on this, as soon as i get a non 12-15hr work day I'll carefully trace everything. It is in a Miata and all of the wiring outside of the standard engine harness is hand made. I had purchased one of those big weatherpack kits and lots of good quality spools of wire and wired all the VSS reverse lights, Buffer, gauges, etc.. all wired by me. Used quality wire, soldered every joint every connection is a weather pack connect etc.. So I did it right but when making as much as I did there is always room for err.I know it has +12 v as I have a fuel ratiometer fed by the same vo;tage source/fuse, So it is getting power, But I will recheck every connection possible, and if all is well I will just buy a new buffer and go from there.
I already have the red/gray so I am actually really happy about that. I must have really accidentally picked tire sizing and gear ratios the same or really close to a stock camaro/firebird?
