new harmonic dampner arrived today, questions on install
I just recieved my new harmonic dampner from summit, its the Summit brand 161358. Do I have to remove anything special or just 4 bolts from the old and install the new one and tighten it down?? The instructions say something about replacing the timing cover seal, but i dont see why id have to take it off? Don't the dampner just come off relatively easily? Also, how do I ensure I read this one right so I know where TDC is? Thanks guys and gals!

The damper will need a puller to get it off, and an installer to put it back on.
The timing cover seal to replace isn't the gasket behind the cover, it's the seal around the balancer.

And most times you will have to remove the timing cover to get the balancer seal off. Especially if it is the stock one, it could be glued on good!

I've never needed to take the timing cover off to get the seal out. A seal puller makes quick work of it.

Well, first you must remove the main pulley. There is a large center bolt that goes into the crank and three outer bolts. Also, find a measurement on where the current damper is located relative to something on the block. When you push the new damper on, push it on to the same position, according to that dimension.
