memcal ?
I have a memcal I took out of my sons 87 305 tpi irocz, it has the white board in it I think its knock control. From what I have been reading that was from 90 and on. I got this car used and not running now I am not sure if this is the right memcal HELP!! car runs in limp mode with fan on when I turn key on. Is it possible I have the wrong memcal???

Sounds like either someone has an ECM on their different than stock, or it has the wrong memcal. Your 87 should have a 1227165 ECM. If thats what it still has, then there should not be a white board on the memcal. If the previous owner converted the car to a 90-92 1227730 ECM, then your memcal should have the board.
Let us know what the four letter code on the memcal is, and the ECM service number. Myself or someone else will reply with the original application for that memcal.

Hey Vader, I couldn't find it at all? so now I am lost??? should I buy a new one with an 87 bcc that is very close to what I have 305, tpi, auto, fed, etc I am not sure of the gears I will need to look for rpo info in the car

Well, that broadcast code comes up for an 89 3.8L V6 to be used with a 1228253 ECM. Needless to say, neither that ECM nor that prom are for your application.
Check to see that you have a 1227165 ECM underneath the dash. If its something else, let us know.
You need to pick up an appropriate prom for your application, as that one will not work. If I understood correctly, the car with the problem is an 87 305 TPI, correct?
If so, you will need an 86-88 305 TPI prom (there are automatic and manual versions, so look up the application before you buy one to make sure you get one with the correct transmission type).
