Cleaning fuel lines

Hey guys,

I'm putting together a TPI system and the metal piping has a bit of surface rust inside it. The fuel rail themselves look fine though. What kind of cleaner can I run through the pipes to clean the rust off? I'd rather it didn't all go through my recently cleaned fuel injectors when I put it all together.

Hmm, never had this issue.

Take them completely out and hot tank them depending on how far apart the car is would work.

Or unhook them from tank/rail/etc and use compressed air to blow them out and than use a transmission flush on them :-) Most parts have it in a can and nozzle that you can use to clean out your radiator trans cooler and trans lines with.

Would work great, just make sure to thouroughly clean them out afterwards.

The second idea sounds best to me. The rust is in the fuel line leading up to the injector rail and since it's permanently attached to the rail flushing it out seems better. I would think that hot tanking aluminium parts would cause the injector rails to melt.

Thanks!

That's actually a very good idea! I might do that for the other lines I have to clean. I ended up getting the first batch ultrasonically cleaned which did the job too.
