swaping to tpi...

ok, im swaping an 88' 350 tpi engine into a 305 tbi powered 92 rs... what i am wondering is....
would it be easier to use the tbi wireing and repin/ and mod harness for tpi while makeing it SD???? or
use the maf tpi harness and change/repin for SD and any other changes to hook up to the 92 wireing.... or
use the maf harness... lave as maf and change other wiring to match 92 wiring in other areas besides engine?

and thoughts.. hints... let me know...

My car was a 92 305 TBI. I went from that to a maf TPI. The latter of your choices sounds like the best idea.. But, I vote for sending your harness out to be converted. TPIPARTS.net does it. The reason im saying this is because im dealing with a painless harness right now and let me tell you that if you have never dealth with a harness before, its a real pain!

the harness work.. repinning for ecm.. moding it.. no problem.. im comfortable with all that.. already completely rewired interior harness for 98 dash and controls in my 91... just trying to see which would be the best route to go with the engine going in the 92

That is some very interesting work you are thinking about. I have done something similar, I am currently running a 86 Tpi with a 746 computer.(stock 92 TBI) I changed the connecters on the engine harness for the tps, iat, and injectors, and installed a relay, operated by the AIr Div soleniod wire, that activates a heated o2, I ran out of cash and was going to buy custom prom burning stuff to try to make it run better. It runs a little confused, also i think i should have calculated the circiut resistance of 4 parallel inj of one bank, compared to the restance of the one t/b inj for each inj circuit, also i should have braided wires that run to the computer to reduce flyback and induction interferance(I think i may be frying the computer) Im dont think the air div is staying on long enough to be effecitve for the o2 heater, I put the heated 02 sesor on to compesate for headers,(o2s being farther downsteam) truly it ran much better without an 02 signal, I was thinking of an AFPR and dropping fuel pressure until a/f ratio became manageable by the comuter, but this would only be a temp fix until i can get into the prom and make the fuel map a little more proper. Also i have ran myself into an over cooling problem(blame Hypertech) from my younger dumber days. which prabably makes it hard for closed loop and block learn to take over. I still smack down any mustang in my town though. Let me know what you think of my craziness!!!
