I have an 88 530 TPI IROC. My shop manual is for an 85 and only lists code 34 no code 33. I coded my check engine and get code 12 x 3 followed by code 33 x 3. Was the code changed between 85 and 88? I just read a post stating that the car was giving a code 33 and replacing the MAF cured the problem.

What is code 33 is it the same as my code 34 in the 1985 manual?

No other codes and I have put two MAF sensors on the car and the original and both test items give exactly the same symptoms. Starts fine, idles fine and continues fine as long as the speed is slow. Once I attempt to accelerat slowly it stumbles and throws the code. Sometimes I can stop and turn the ignition off for a few minutes and it will clear, most of the time no. When I start the car warm or cold the check engine light is off until I accelerate, rarely takes more than five minutes to code. Again all the MAF sensors perform in exactly the same manner.

Insight would be much appreciated.

Check and/or reset the TPS voltage, clear the ECM, and try again.
