Burn outs

How many gears can you TPI guys spin your tires through? Also what Engine, mods, and gears do you have.

humm...time for traction everyone.... - anyhow, it all depended(not TPI anymore) on how high I wound it while still toeing the brakes you can get clear into OD if you're trying, but WHY? - lca's+relocates, torque arm, 1.66 60fts on 17's... of course, I can still go 1-4 w/ the stick coming out of the bleach box...

I say it better if you can't spin because that means that your getting the power to the ground, or maybe you just have a weak engine. Anyway, I've noticed that it depends a lot on the road conditions. With my car, sometimes it will hook up and it won't spin at all. Other time I can spin through 2nd. When I power brake it I've had it spinning in 3rd with the speedo at 100mph and the car was slowly rolling.

I would think so.
If it was me I would put in a 6 speed T56 instead of the T5. There is a good change that the T5 won't hold up if you are hard on it.

an old man once told me there are no stupid questions.

he was wrong.

if you can spin, then you have traction issues.
since the SUSPENSION makes more of a diff then the engine does, im going to go out on a limb and say the guys with the saggyest rear springs and worn rear shocks can spin them the most since their LCAs will lift up and let them spin...

Thats what I was thinking. The T5 cant handle much over 300 lb ft. I still have to work on traction some new radials should do the trick.

Yah this post is kinda silly, not really sure why I am replying to this but what the heck.

See the sig for mods. I dont really do huge burnouts very often but I can bark the tires in 3rd gear every time. Some guys heard me doin it in an autocross event this summer, needless to say they were wondering why I was in the stock class . I told them my car was stock, it appears stock, but they laughed and didnt believe me.

i got adjustable shocks/eibach springs, LCA's and reloc brackets but its not on the lowest setting, and spohn LCA's, hotchis panhard bar

3.27 gears and 2800 stall

in first, if i punch it from a 10-15mph roll it will spin abit then hook up and take off.

if stand on the brake and get it going in first spinning while doing a burnout, and let off the brake and shift into second... it spins thru about half way thru second then dies. my traction is alright

Nothing wrong with burnouts!

I mean, what fun is there in having 345lb-ft with no high rpm pull if you can't do a burnout every once in a while.

With the 2.73s, best i've ever done was 3rd gear @ 4200rpms on the line lock.

From a dead stop with no brakes, 1st then shifts 2nd and holds at about 4600rpms and rides it out for quite a ways.. it really depends on the pavement though. sometimes it hooks up

Yea I've had my car in 3rd with the speedo reading 100mph+ and the car was barely moving. The problem is trying to clean all of the rubber off the car after I'm done. That sh*t is almost impossible to get off.

I guess the trick would be to get 1.7 60' times while doing a burnout. That would be impressive!

1.7 60 fts? you weenies... how 'bout 1.66 on 17 inchers?
- Unless I try to spin, I don't. My car will hook in the rain. - A buddy of mine is on here, can't think of his screen name, but he can vouch for it.(i'll find out if ya'll feel like calling me out) - My best run at the track was 11.7@136. My 60fts are always between 1.66 and 1.70. - I launch over 4500 too...

I can spin them to about 25 which is most of first, spin the tires into 2nd for a few and chirp 3rd with the tire pressure at 35 lbs. But I usually run about 25 psi to get good traction if i plan on cruising the town for cars.

Ahahaha

Ya when I burn out I torque my engine so high that the motor mounts give out.

Whats the best way to leave a 'patch?'

Just hold your foot on the brake and mash the go pedal?

Put the nose of the car against a wall and mash it, let it go through all the gears and cruise in 4th rolling the tires off until they burn down to the rims. That'll leave a HUUUGE patch, and if your car breaks while doing it it sucks.

In all honestly on Firestone Firehawk directional street tires my car would probably roll them off till third gear if I broke them loose, I make sure not to do that though by easing into the pedal on the street, they don't spin at all, all hook and go. Burnouts at the track I usually clear first without using the brakes (but don't let it shift, bad for the trans), this usually scares the CRAP out of the guy running the tree when I get sideways in the box.

thats the stock, I don't like my rear brakes way. The BEST way is to find the wonders of a line-lock...which leads to "Honey, I know I JUST bought new tires...but I think I might need some new ones..."

One time my friend did a better burn out than me by pouring 2 quarts of 10w30 Valvoline on his tires, but that's cheating!!! Sometimes when you're at the track if you wanna look cool stick your car in reverse at the 8th mile and let em eat people will be like WOOOW HIS CAR IS SO POWERFUL ITS BURNING THE TIRES AT THE HALFWAY DOWN THE TRACK. And remember you're not cool unless you can make your Camaro burn out SO HARD that your front tires pop.

Heres my favorite retarded burnout moment.

1.54 60 ft spraying out of the hole while spinning the M/T's in a friends juiced 88 GTA.

This occured with a posi we pieced together from my junk parts cause his c-clip let go(wonder why? lol) and we needed it to last exactly one track day :-)

And remember you're not cool unless you can make your Camaro burn out SO HARD that your front tires pop.
lol at the oil thing...

ive made a couple car vids, and the oil trick works great.. makes more smoke without making it look like bleach was used... it also seems to let the tire last longer.. not as much rubber taken off...

Car: too many ...
Halarious. I think it depends on the tires. Even the weakest motor would be able to do a burnout with crappy enough tires. For fun I put 195/60/15's on the rear of my IROC and I could spin it all day long. Dosnt matter what mods or gears I have hehe. About the drifting thing, I gotta say burning out is not drifting but its still alot of fun!!

burnouts

well guys

i done a 321 ft burnout in the GN @ 20 psi of boost.

of course with 350 RWHP and 440 RWTQ that was fun

i only brake boosted it to 2 psi and let go of her

i done it in front of my friend's house and pissed all of his neighbors off. hell they even called the fire dept for all the smoke lol

and at the track it's capable of 1.80's on street tires too

with the slicks on 1.60-1.64 @ 4-5 psi on the launch

the camaro i dunno have not got to drive it long enuff to do a burn out. i bought it with a blowed head gasket. but i got it running today gonna finish her up tomorrow. so i will see what a 2.73 posi and a nice running 350 will do

Burnouts the ******* way:

Block car on cinder blocks
Remove rear wheels
remove caliper
Pinch brake line
Put wheel back on
Tighten lug nuts
Find a strait road
Stall it up
Hit the go-pedal
