1985 Trans Am 305 to 86 Corvette 350 ECM Ques?
85 trans am 305 ECM question
I have a couple questions for you wiring/computer experts.
I have a 1985 trans am 305 tpi and Im swapping the motor for a 1986 Corvette 350 tpi.
I I have dropped the 350 and plugged in the majority of the tpi wire harnesses without a problem.
My question is will my stock 1985 trans am ecm/computer be able to handle the corvette 350?
Also, does anybody know where to get some new connectors for my existing wiring harness (some of my connectors are bad)?

Wont work. Try reading that article in the link.
For replacements connectors got to your auto parts store or Year One has all the connectors too. Last place would be expensive but the dealer has them too.

From what I've gathered you want to stick with the same year ECM/Chip. And 85 and 86 are very different so it wouldn't work right.
Your best bet would to find someone that can burn chips and have them change the tune.

Inside the ECM there is a chip. Look for the little door with a screw in it. Below that is the chip. Different years have different chips, baud rates, fuel maps, etc. A 305 chip from 85 TPI has a way lower rate from an 86+ chip. You would need a chip with a new program (burned chip) to do the stuff you want or change the ECMs outright.
Do a search on the net for OBDI (On Board Diagnostics One). Or you could also read up on this site, its how I got started to understand the whole Fuel Injection stuff. Its alot to soak in...
