Smoke out of exhaust on start up
her 88 formula 350 seems to smoke out of the exhuast on start up
it's a white smoke
single 3" flowmaster outlet
not looking antifreeze but oil seems to go down more then i'd think
since it has 85k, is that valve stem seals?
seems the longer it sits, the more it smokes it out
run fine other wise.
no smoke on acceleration or decelleration
just wondering if it is the stem seams, do the heads have to come off?
another thought i was thinking if it is them and i have to take the heads off, is it better to just swap an aftermarket head, like an aluminum type?

definitely valve seals. just a little oil seeping down into the combustion chamber after you shut the car off. It will get worse over time and if you can, I would get it fixed. only you can answer your question on swapping the heads out. well, your wallet will answer that question. oviously, aftermarket heads will be better then your stock heads.

I took the middle road. I bought rebuilt stock heads and kept my heads in case I want to have them modified. Both sets are the 081 heads. With keeping my heads they cost about $300 completely rebuilt and looking like new. I forget what the core charge was. I used the money I saved over aftermarket heads on headers and some other things. I couldn't afford new heads and headers and heads without headers doesn't make much sense.

yeah, i think they definately need to get done, since it smokes alot
smokes more if it sits longer
figured since it used about a 1qt of oil within a short period of time, might as well do that.
I thought blue smoke was valve stem seals
