1992 Formula, 197,000 miles all original...what first?
I just bought a 1992 Formula 350 TPI and it has 197,000 miles on it. There is no service records and the person I bought it from did nothing but drive it (and change oil) for the last 55,000 miles he owned it.
I am putting together a plan of attack to overhaul the car and wanted some opinions to make sure I am not missing anything.
What should be done to a car with this mileage to make a reliable 13 sec daily drive out of her?
As I said, the car is all original. 350 TPI, rear disc 3.23 rear, original dual convertors.
Thanks in advance for all your help and tips.

Pull the motor and change the bearings, oil pump, new rings, clean the heads (maybe get some work done to them) and change the valve seals, choose a nice cam, rebuild the tranny, add a nice stall and tranny cooler, install a miniram or Stealthram.
If you want to spend a little more, bore out the block, install forged pistons and rods, and add some nitrous.

Jayzee from 3go has a 214K mile 91 Camaro 350 TPI pulling 13.50's with just headers and Drag Radials. Car is a fluke.

As long as the internals are sound I see no reason for a premature overhaul. I'd replace the IAT, IAC, MAP, TPS, O2, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new or cleaned injectors, etc etc etc. Get everything in the TPI system up to new standards and she should run well. Then start saving your money for when you really do need the overhaul.
