GM Parts Direct

So I order an AFS-74 O2 sensor (GM P/N 25312179) and I get shipped an AFS-98 (GM P/N 25312197). Somehow the last two digits in the GM part number got reversed at their warehouse. I already checked my original invoice and it has the correct number.

HEre's the rub: They say they don't refund shipping, that I have to pay to have the wrong part shipped back to them, and then I'll have to pay to have the correct part shipped out to me!! What a freakin' rip off! All that shipping adds up to almost the price of a new sensor!

I complained in the e-mail I sent, but I doubt I'm going to win this one. It'd be easier to send this one back, and then buy the correct one from a GM dealer rather than spend an extra $20+ for the remainder of the shipping back and forth...

Have you considered trying to "trade" it back to the local dealer for a restock charge? You save the shipping, they get a part at a discount, you get the part you need. It might be worth asking. Typical restock fees are 15-25%, however.

Very interesting! I hadn't thought of that.

I'll make some phone calls on Monday...

Wish they had a phone number... otherwise, it's tough to argue via e-mail. I'm definitely going to complain though!!

They do have a phone number.

It has been posted here before, dont remeber where but it exists.

Sides, if someone answers your email, there are people there :-)

They are just a GM dealer that had a nifty play on dealer cost with a 20% shipping charge on everything.

Kudos to GMPartsdirect. They're doing the correct thing:

*******************
We will be sending dhl by to pick up the part please have the part ready
to ship back to us. If you are not going to be home please leave the
part on the front porch and put a piece of paper on the box saying
pickup so they won't think it is a delivery. Do not write on the box or
we will not be able to take the part back. We will ship you the correct
part once we have received the incorrect part back. We are sorry for the
delay of your order. Please make sure the part is picked up the first
time or you will be responsible to return the part back to us. They will
be by Wednesday between 11am-4pm.

Thank You www.GmPartsDirect.com

I guess the only rub now is that I have to wait another week to get my O2 sensor.

But, I can chalk that up to "s__t happens".
