85 Trans Am Build Up

Hey guys, i recently aquired an 85 trans am shell with every thing except an engine and transmission. i will be doing a budget build up on it and was wondering if you knew any vendors, threads or websites that would point me to cheap new or used parts. i have a list already, i am just trying to refine it to get more bang for my buck. Due to gas prices, i will be constrained to a 305 block. i respect this boards members and i have done searches, so please no 305 bashing or "do a search" post, i have but i want to know personal results.
thanks,
Anthony

A 305? Isn't that an old GMC V-6? Just do a search dude! Just kidding!!!!!!!! A friend of mine has made some real steals on ebay. Also check the local newspaper.

You might also check the VIN number to see if it was carb or TPI originally. Check the 8th digit, G or H was carb, F was TPI. Buy a complete engine or buy a rollover and strip it for what you need.

Good luck on your search!

1. 305 blocks get same gas mileage as 350.
2. 305 blocks are usually given away becuase no one wants them. I know 4 of them for free in the central massachusetts area.

Also, the 350 would need less mods to get the same amount of power, so the saved money on the extra mods could be put towards gas.
