Edelbrock Intake manifold & runners, fitment issue...

Has anyone had any issues with fitment of the bottom rear runner bolt to the intake on the passenger side?

I cant seem to get the thing to thread at all, even test fitting with and without the gasket. Seems like every other bolt threads fine, just that one bolt...

Would it be safe to grind the top of the runner a little bit to make the bolt fit level with the screw hole?

Yet another edelbrock horror story waiting to happen I think...

... sorry if nobody told you, but edelbrock has some serious quality issues. Take your stock runners and line them up on the base. If you can thread in all the bolts - I would demand a new set of runners from edelbrock. If you can't - I would demand a new base plate. It's either one or the other. Don't go modifying something that should work right the first time from the factory. It hasn't even been heated to the point it could warp (yet).

yeah, i'd have to agree with him on that one..... dont modify ANYTHING, after you do, they can just say oh its your fault it doesnt fit, bla bla...... just send that thing back and tell them they suck ;x even though i love edelbrock, im sure thats definetly possible

Possible? Run a search - countless members have had HUGE problems with edelbrock's TPI parts. Not aligned properly is just a start, there's wrapping, and even CRACKING! The only thing possible about edelbrock's base is that it's the worst one on the market. At a local parts swap meet, I compared the aluminum on the stock unit to edelbrocks... well, I guess that would just have to be something to see for yourself, but it had a very "I'm A Cheap Peice of Crap" feeling to it compared to the factory part.

wow, i had no idea. i've always loved edelbrock products. i guess i wont be going near their tpi manifold when i upgrade my stock one. i was thinking about going with the TPIS one instead. supposedly it makes the most power for a stock replacement.

TPIS'es base is made by edelbrock, but TPIS port matches it. Maybe they also try to sell only the "Acceptable" bases instead of just packing up every base that's made and hoping it's good.

That being said, I've had good luck with edelbrock's other parts, and some people do have good luck with the base... but there are many that have nothing but nightmere's with the edelbrock base.

Well, this isnt exactly a response about the Edelbrock manifold, but more a response of what I found underneath my stock manifold....

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a SHOP TOWEL mangled up under the lifter spider...

Im still speechless...

I will be talking to edelbrock on tuesday to see whats what about getting either a replacement or find out what to do regarding the runners.

I guess im lucky that the rag didnt catch fire or get munched up by something and drawn into the engine...
