Are TPI intake manifold gaskets different from lg4s?

Ok, my car heats up too much and a friend suggested that I put the wrong intake manifold gaskets on and that could cause my problem. I used a set that was for a 84 305 lg4 on my 86 tpi 305. He says they may be different, but I think they are the same. I do not know for sure without buying both and looking at them. There are different part #s for both years and I can not find pictures of both.

I think the only difference is intake port size...no reason to cause it to overheat.

Does it over heat at idle (make sure the fans come on)...over heat at speed? Make sure the airdam is intact...just a few places to start.
