I need help with a new induction system.

I really don’t know where to post this question. Ok you guys I ran into a pretty big problem just a couple of days ago. I bought some after market heads, they are the Pro Toplightning part number 223400000A with an intake runner of 200cc. So I took my heads to a shop to get them built and I also took my TPI intake in to get port matched. Well they did build my heads but they told me that I could not use the TPI intake with my heads. This is not a big deal; I was just going to get a LT1 intake for it. So I wrote John at ltintake.com and he told me that the LT1 intake would not fit the ports of my new heads just like the TPI intake. My question to you guys is do any of you know of a good fuel injected induction system that I can use on my new heads that offer good flow?? Or will I have to convert to a Carburetor? Please I really need your help guys!!!!

its not the fuel injections problem.. its the height of the runners on the heads that is.

you can still do the LT1 style intake, but you would need the LT4 intake from Summitracing.com

OR

you can go to SDPC2000.com and get a vortec style intake and redrill it to fit your heads. thats pretty much your only options. You need a "raised runner" intake manifold.

Please help me to understand this.

I gave a local machine shop the 200cc Iron Ligntning heads and a LT1 intake (definitely not LT4) and they were able to assemble the engine. I asked them to port match. It runs great. The only problems they ran into (that they mentioned) were push rod lengths (LT4 hot cam and 1.6 rockers).

I must be missing something?

I called the machine shop this afternoon about my setup. I was told that the 200cc heads usually work with most factory aluminum intake manifolds...obviously including my LT1 intake. I don't know how much coverage the ports have, but they're definitely covered and the motor runs very strong with no vacuum leaks.

I am unfamiliar with the Pro Lightning heads so when I was asked if the LT1 intake would fit I said no, not if the stock TPI intake doesn't cover the ports no way in **** the LT1 intake would cover them.

I'm really no expert with intake/heads, but I remember wanting the 180cc heads, but Summit Racing only had the 200cc heads at the time...so I went with those, not aware that there was the potential for port size problems. You can see that there was no aluminum added to the ends of the ports.

Maybe I'm only getting by because of the gasket used? I don't know, but it all seems to work fine.
