Stupid question.
When I put the engine back in, the gasket set I got with it had 2 sets of intake manifold gaskets. One set had a square metal tab on one end. Which gaskets am I suppose to use? or does it matter?

Look at the intake and back of the head, don't think there's a waterjacket there, but been a long time since I had mine off...pretty sure yuo use the one with the tab in it.

That's where the coolant runs. Pretty sure you only have a passage on both sides in front of the intake, not the rear.
Once you have it off, hold the gasket up to the intake and you'll see what I mean.

Ahh ok I getcha, on the gasket though, I matched both sets up to the intake and the metal tabs line up to the rear(window) of the intake. So just for S&Gs, what happens if you use the ones without the metal tab?

Without the metal tab, the coolant has a place top start working against the metal...could lead to premature failure..dunno...kinda one of those things whenn you run non-exhaust crossover haed, you run the gasket with the tab as well...no experience in actually trying it to see if a problem develops, but why take a chance?
