Super charger vs Heads and Cam

I have been looking at some ways to dramatically increase my power out of my L98 and these are the two that spark my interest the most. Out of the two the super charger is WAY more expensive (Procharger) but I have yet to find a heads and cam that is right for me.

What I am looking for in replies is what people have done to their own cars and what the pros and cons are. Links to sites that have the items with good prices would be nice too.

Also my corvette is my daily so think street performance.

I say get a heads and cam and then supercharge it for the MAX effect! Get an aftermarket plenum(or port it out)and base to futher maximize.

Not sure what year Vette started to bring aluminum heads, but more than likely you have them stock. With a little work, they will flow well beyond your TPI setup (even an aftermarket base and runners).

With that in mind, I would pick up a moderate cam, somewhere in the 212-218 range (also depends on your taste, and preferences), and do some mild head work. Blend the bowls, smoothen out the short side radius, and trim the valve guides some. It will make a noticeable improvement.

I'm running a 218 228 @ .050 cam in my daily driver, with stock 305 heads that have been heavily worked over. I'm pretty happy with it.

It'd be easier if you had some sort of performance goal in mind, and tell us what that is.

I would like to see 12.9 at the track or at least 13.1. My times as of now is 14.1@99.

My motor is pretty much stock. I Just had a tune up. it has a MSD ignition box and a K&N filter with the lid cut.

So what I am getting here so far is just take the head I already have and get the work done on it and get a cam.

There are very few TPI cars that can run those times. Most are in the low 13s at best.

However, if you add a Holley Stealthram onto your list, you can see high 12s. You will however lose some bottom end power by going with the stealthram. TPi is a better choice for a daily driver than the holley unit, so its a compromise either way.
