Fast burn heads
I notice that not many people opt for the fast burn heads, instead they go with AFR or Trickflow. Its my understanding that the fast burn heads are almost perfect out of the box where these other heads require porting/polishing bowl jobs, etc. They have proven they can make gobs of power.
So why is it?
And if anybody is using fast burn heads, what other components are you using and power numbers?
Thanks,
Kenny

A friend and I have been discussing the same thing. The Fast Burns seem like a pretty good deal.. about $1100/pair. It's also the only head I've ever seen with a dual bolt pattern on the intake for a convential or Vortec style intake.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has run a pair, especially on a 406 or even 383.

I'm running the Sportsman II heads, which have the fast burn chamber. I personally like mine quite a bit. One thing I think I've found while developing my prom tuning is they appear to not need as much timing advance as other chamber style of heads....
YMMV, of course!

I also have the GMPP Fastburn heads. I use a Super Victor Jr. vortec intake. They are drilled for both styles of intakes but the non vortec intakes won't cover the tall intake ports on vortec heads.
I have a mild 406 and run 12.25 @ 110 mph.

Fast burns are awesome heads for the price but even though they have the dual bolt pattern they are not going to work with 99% of intakes made for standard bolt pattern. The intake ports are just too tall.
