Fuel pressure at startup? Cold start problem
OK, I'm having cold start problems with our car. It is a 87 L98 in a 92 Firebird. It has a cam in it a little bigger than a ZZ4 cam. Once you get it running, it is great. Just getting it started is the problem, we have to use some starting fluid to get it going.
I'm only seeing 20lbs of pressure at startup. Haven't checked yet while running, but that seems like it is too low for startup.
Is this too low and what should it be? I'm stumped, I'm a carb guy at heart so no idea here.

Well, if I bump it up to 40lbs it blows smoke that smells like unburnt fuel and sounds like the engine is flooding.
Well, if you know the **** we went through with this car, any time we find what the problem is it is figured out.
Talked with Jeff at CAM that is doing the tuning, he said to bring it back and he'll retune it to work with the higher fuel pressure - problem solved.
