Rockers not loose...injector is TICKING!
Well, I reset what I thought were loose rockers. Figured since I had several hundred miles since the rebuild and there was some ticking, the new valvetrain needed the lash reset. I did that this past weekend and it made NO difference. Slightly discouraged, I brought the car to my buddies garage for some afterhours steering component swapping (MUCH better BTW). I asked him about the problem, and first thing he does is ask me if the rockers have been adjusted. I told him I just did it last weekend, and then he says "it's your injectors". I thought he was crazy. He took a screwdriver and held it to the side of the injector and said "yep, that's it". Sure enough, you can actually feel the injector pulsing through the screwdriver.
Is this correct? If I hadn't actually felt the injector ticking, there's no way you could convince me that this noise was coming from the injector.
Next question: Is that a bad thing?

TPI injectors have been known for being loud, atleast what I heard. I never noticed how loud mine were. But one day i'm like what the hell is that ticking when I had my hood up. Sure enough it was the injectors.

I've gotta loud ticking nosie too, first i thought it was my exhaust collector linking until i did a litte screw driver probbing. The reason i though it was exhaust was because it only did it hott.
So them silly injectors get pretty loud some times and make you look other places.

So the injectors ticking is nothing to worry about? Just rebuilt my 350 with a Hotcam and just fixed a MAF problem and adjusting the rockers. I get a ticking when its under load, no other time, no leaks in the exhaust and its not the rockers, Im fairly sure its the injectors, so if they are ticking its nothing to be concerned about?

I could only hear mine at idle, very loud. not sure if that is normal for you to hear them underload like that, are you sure it's not pinging or anything?

one thing ive noticed, you can try this too..
with engine at idle, slowly raise the rpm just a tad by barely pressing the gas pedal, should here the ticking rise quite a bit in rate for a moment, then settle back down some.

I put some SVO's on my car and they are very loud. I can here them at idle from inside my car with the t-tops off and a cowl hood. And since I raised the fuel pressue they are extra loud. I thought it was a vaccum leak at first but I have confirmed it is those darn noisy injectors. I do not here my under load but my exhaust is pretty loud.

Glad to hear this!
I've been thinking it was my exhaust (pulled it and reset the connections, replaced gaskets again,) Then redid the valve lash two times (overdid it the second time just to be sure) Have to go back and loosen them up to the right setting this weekend.
I only really noticed it in the last month and thought something was working loose.
Still ticks, but not too loud. Oh well, at least its nothing bad

Im pretty sure it was after I installed the AFPR and increased the pressure that I really noticed it.
Oh well, live and learn
I dont have this problem with my 1919 Formula as it uses moonshine injectors
