can a solid lifter cam and lifters be used in a TPI Motor?

What is the advantage of using roller lifters and a roller camshaft? Can I use solid lifters and a “normal” high lift camshaft on my Tune Port Injected motor? If this can be done will I loss performance by doing so?

I've seen a few Solid roller cam EFI smallblocks run really strong. A flat tappet solid cam will be too noisy for the Knock sensor.
A roller cam can run steeper ramp angles to accelerate the opening and closing of the valves, less frictional loss, and a solid roller cam the lifter is lighter, so you can buzz it higher. I can't see getting the full advantage out of a solid roller cam in a tpi motor, they just won't rev that high with long runners.

But at the same time, comparing a solid cam to a hydraulic cam with the same duration, the hydrualic will be make power higher in the rpm band because it's effectively running with zero lash, giving it more duration. A solid roller cam will almost always make more torque and power though becuase of the extra lift, steeper ramps, etc.

A small solid roller cam could probably be a good match for a TPI intake, but why even mess with the extra work when it only means 5-10 hp at that level.

The knock sensor is only listening to a select frequency of sound so you should be good. If you can burn you own chips I'd say try it and if you have problems disable the knock sensor and go from there. I think a solid flat tappet cam will work, but it's probably not worth the extra work and shortened cam life especially if your still running stock heads and intake.
