Fuel rail/injector question

When I replaced my injectors, I forgot to check this out.

Can you just take the plenum off without taking off the runners and have the fuel rail lift high enough to change the injectors?

well i've done it with everything still in there, but if the lockrings on the injectors stick, it's a real pain... anyways, if you do the pass side first, it will give the driver side just enough clearance to get those out and then go back in reverse order.

Replacing fuel injectors is a very important job that MUST be done right the first time. The end result of taking short cuts is not pretty.

Remove the plenum and runner. Then remove the fuel rails completely,,, this involves disconnecting the fuel line connections at the front of the intake manifold.

With the fuel rails in your hand, rotate the lock ring to remove each injector. Remove all eight injectors by this same technique.

When you re-install fuel injectors, make sure to follow the right procedure here and put a little bit of lubricant on the O-rings. Lock the injectors into the fuel rail first, all eight. Then get all eight to feed into their respective hole at the same time. Slowly work the injectors home into the intake manifold.

That's the problem. I already did it right the first time but for some reason, the number 8 cylinder stoped firing. I get light from a noid light on the connector and I get spark all the way down to the plug.

I've replaced the plugs so that's not it. I switched around the wires and thats not it either.

All I really wan't to do is swap injectors and see if the dead cylinder follows and I figured that would be the easiest way but if not, oh well.

if six fires ok just move the #6 injector connector to #8. if 8 still won't fire you know it's the injector for sure. if the problem moves...well you know whats wrong as well. i would do this before you take anything apart again.

sure the noid light goes off, but if you have a loose or bent pin in that connector you've got a problem too. i've bent one up before on a corvette. it was being a pain and i pushed it on while it was slightly angled and i bent the ground pin. as a result there was one injector that was basically not working.
