How much fuel can a -6AN supply? 454 SB related
I started the dyno pulls on the SB 454 today, the fuel pressure starts out at 45psi and falls to 20-25 above 4500. I suspect its the pump, its a Mallory 60FI so I ordered a Mallory 110FI but I am concerned about the 6 AN fitting will that support the 500 hp range?
If I am calculating right the 60FI pumps 30 gph at 40psi, I think gas weighs right at 6.35 lb per gallon so thats 190.5 lb/hr, I feel I will have to be in the 260-270 lb/ hr range.
BTW, with one plug gas fouled and one cylinder with over .125 lash on both valves.. (Don't ask ) It made 475 ft lbs at 4400 rpm.

I am not a fan of high pressure in-line fuel pumps. I have been through 2 of them. I ended up with a Walbro 255LPH high pressure version for $108 that installs in the tank. Very quite and very reliable. Just FYI....

For you setup, I'd run twin pumps, either internal or external with -6 feeds on both or -6 off of the pumps to a -6 to -8 T block with a singe -8 up to the front of the car split to 2 -6's..
Racetronix sells a twin Walbro 255 lph intank setup for about $200 or so.
A friend of mine with a 383LS1 and Nitrous is running twin walbro 340 lph on his setup just to be safe.
There are many combos for the fuel system just need to find a setup that is affordable and will supply enough fuel.

I made some research last week about pumps and lines...
rkrause made 700rwhp with a "kenny bell boost a pump" and a walbro 255lph in tank pump with stock lines on his LT1...
/N.

(on the dyno). I believe I went overkill on my fuel system, and could have saved some real money going a bit smaller. With the -6 at the rails and -8 under the car, and -10 into the tank, you can see where the price really starts to add up. A lot of guys are making the same power with less fuel system...Tom

Thanks for the input, I got a Mallory 110FI pump and fed it on the dyno with just a single -6an on one rail and the fuel pressure held fine even with my 32 lb injectors running at 98% duty cycle. Since this is not going to be an all out race setup I will stick with the -6an since it seems to hold the fuel flow fine for now.
I was really suprised that it would support that much flow.
Happy Holidays!
