idle timing with the est connected

Out of curiosity, how many degrees does a typical tpi ecm add to the base timing?

That depends on too many variables to give a solid answer.

lets try a stock 1991 l98 map system.

Im just looking for a ball park, any tpi system would be fine.

The variables I meant were things like temprature, idle RPM, MAP value, spark correction factor and possible knock retard.

But to find your specific "commanded" advance, just look at a bin file for your application, in the timing tables. That should tell you what it is "supposed" to running for advance.
Looks to be 20.04* BUT there are other things that can and will affect this.
