91 z28 plans Yea or Nah
Well were looking to modify my best friends 91 z28. Its currently got 82k on the motor and trans. Trans has a shift kit and its got dynomax cat back. Hes looking to add some extra horsepower without having to tune or do any major mods. I was thinking...
SLP Runners
zz4 Cam
New timing chain
1 5/8 edelbrocks
new fuel injectors (slp ones for $99)
Any suggestions on the kind of hp upgrade this would be? Im thinking it could pull 13.2s with traction. Any other suggestions on upgrades? Dont want to make it a real big project though. Just good reliable horsepower.

Is it a 305 or a 350??? Does he have any suspension mods??? First thing i recommend for any modded fbody are subframe connectors...they make a huge diffence IMO. Also maybe we have different ideas of "major mods" but doing a cam and headers is a pretty big undertaking. Also i know u said you dont wanna tune, but i doubt he will see the full potential of his mods if he doesnt get a PROM that taylors more to that setup. Might wanna look into a torque converter as well if its an auto. And of course check the tech articles here for free/cheap mods. It cost me 5 bucks and took about 2 hours at most to make my ram air.

Yes, SFCs are a good idea along with suspension mods but hes looking more into exhaust and a mild cam before doing that stuff. And yes i know its usless power if it aint to the ground but this is his choice. I have heard that its not 100% necessary to get a tune with jsut the zz4 cam. The headers and slp runners arnt really that big of a project(done a few). Just wondering if u guys think he needs anything else to go with the list. Hes got about 1500 to spend. Ill be looking for the runners and cam on ebay. PS. its a 350 tpi

id say for what your friend wants it sounds like you have some good stuff picked out there. If he has any cash left over some pullys or an AFPR might not be bad choices...... And since you gotta rip it all apart might as well take a little extra time to knock that egr shroud down and do a little DIY porting. (i love dremel tools )
