got a stealthram and 383....new to heads opinions...facts

ok i will be running a 383 with the stealthram. more than likely a 58mm tb and 36# injectors. the cam will come last but wont be puny by ANY means......gotta love a rough idle. but im pretty new to this stuff and just need help in three areas (well probably all areas)

first: what size should i get 200cc 220cc more?????

second: intake and exhaust valves....what would be some good sizes to run with this combo?

third: brands!!! there are so many and i hear different stories for each one by different people. i need some that will be great out of the box (fully assembled) but are relativly priced. i want to stay under a grand, used is fine with me.

keep in mind the cam will match my heads after i get the heads, i want to keep as much low end torque as possible since the tracj time will come only every month or so.

searches just keep confusing me!!!

Under a grand limits the choices considerably.

Bang for the buck the pro toplines with some bowl work flow great. I have seen 180cc runnered cast iron heads flow over 280cfm @.600 lift and flow awesome down low too. You can get them cheap on Ebay and have someone blend the bowls and backcut the valves and you will have as much airflow as AFRs for much less $$$.

No offense to you AFR owners, they are great heads.

Charlie

anyone else i need a little help here. im thinking 220cc runners 2.02/1.6 valves and pretty much any brand i can find for under a grand. some pocket porting will probably be done since il have the heads for a while before the engine is assembled. also, angled or straight plugs???

Head over and check out the Pro Lightning series from Pro Topline. You can get a complete set of heads assembled for roller, hydraulic, or whatever you want, for under 1K. Now mind you, these are the Iron Lightnings, but they are VERY VERY VERY impressive with their out of the box flow numbers and could easily support a 500hp with no porting. Not to mention the SR will bolt up to them no problem, they can use center bolt valve covers and look completely stock. Just another option.
