stealth ram on 335
I know people will be saying...just buy a 350 blah blah blah. It might be a good idea for you...but different people have different preferences. All i was wondering is if the stealth ram would work well on a stroked 305. becuase i know that a stock one it wouldnt work to well but if i have heads cam stroker kit ud pullyes, header exhaust...would it be beneficial or just stick w/like a tpis big mouth manifold w/ slp siamese runners ported plenum??

Based on RHS dyno numbers from the mid – late 80s a 335 and 355 (everything the same running 1.94/1.50 heads) will produce similar power curves, with the 335 down about 6 - 8 horses and 12 – 20 lb/ft torque throughout most of the power band,, but they’ll peak close to the same HP at similar rpms,,, with a typical mild street grind cam. However, the 335 drops off much faster on the other side of peak horse power. Power down across the board is due to the variation in cubes (although it’s less than what most dyno simulations will show),, but it dropping off past peak quicker is mainly due to the reduced breathing ability caused by the smaller bore and the increased friction present from the longer stroke and reduced rod to stroke ratio (compared to the 355). The bigger the cam (in both engines), the higher the engines will want to peak,,, and the quicker the 335 falls off from peak,, and the less chance the 335 will have at making similar peak power to the 355 with the same sized cam. Basically,, the 335 just can’t hold up against a similarly built 355,,, that’s why you hear,,, “just go with the 355”.
That being said, if you’re dead set on going with a stroked 305, concentrate on building power at lower, rather than higher RPM and a good long tube runner set up along with a set of long tube headers is the way to do it. You’ll also want to go with a relatively trick cam,, to a degree,,, in order to be able to outrun the 355s running a “typical” EFI cam. Believe it or not,,, you’ll want to go with a slightly larger than typical “350 TPI cam” somewhere around a 222/228 cam with a 108 lobe spread. In order to pull this off,, you better be willing to learn how to burn your own chips so you can tune it. Otherwise stick to a cam in the 210 – 212 intake range on a 110 spread and frankly (not intending to be an **** here),,, hope the 355 next to you is running a similar sized cam on a 114 spread with shorty headers.

thx for the reply bro...basically i want it to run 12's N/A...alot of people say its impossible or unreasonable or not worth it. I am not trying to be ignorant and definetly hear where they are coming from. but its unique and dif. and have heard a lot of peeps say it can be done. my other option would be a LS1 swap which would just cost about the same..figure 6-8 grand for everything while if i use a motor i have...stroke it and do everything else i might save 1 or 2 thousand..and if not as long as i am running just as quick its okay...i dont want my daily driver running 9's lol. but i can say...i can beat an LS1. What are some things i can do to achieve it or do i sound COMPLETELY crazy

p.s.....full suspension, and tranny set up. weight is about 3300-3350 w/driver. i was thinking siamese runner, big mouth manifold, port plenum, UD pulleys, 3" al. drive shaft, 3.42 gears, megashifter, trans go kit, posi, vigilante stall, and some better head/cam package...people usualy when i ask say..wel what are ur intentions..basically what i said 12's and keep it reasonably streetable. i dont care bout rough idle things like that. as long as im getting at LEAST 15 mpg im good. maybe some port/polish. hooker headers, dual all the way w/magnaflows and the stroker kit. i dont know of what else i can do. i just figured with more cubes i might be able to get away w/the HSR

noone has any input? i figured that the HSR proly wouldnt be too good. but how about the LT1 intake? i know there is like 2 or 3 people that have these on their 305s and i was surprised because i thought they were to big but i dunno...
