Enough cam for 13s?
I'm buying a set of S/R torquer 305s for my '87 LB9, and I've been looking at the compucam 2032 and LT4 cams. I'll be doing these heads, a cam that I haven't chosen yet, 1.6 RRs, and have SLP headers, no cat, 3inch hooker aerochamber catback. I will also have 3.73s and a stall according to the cam I get. An ed wright custom chip, and maybe take it to him for a dyno tune. I want to make sure I have enough cam for 13s, cause I don't really want to do this twice. Can anyone recomend anything? I just don't want to end up stuck running 13.9/14.0 and not able to get much more out of it.
Crane Cams CompuCam 2032 Hydraulic Roller Camshaft, 214 / 220, .452 / .465 112 LSA
LT4 cam 203/210, .476/.480, 115
Any suggestions/comments? Thanks.

My guess is: high 13's no problem with the 2032, a 2400 RPM stall conv, those heads (maybe some touch up on em, gasket matched), headers, chip work, may require bigger injectors or more fuel pressure (19's won't go very far), and low 13's (13.2-.4) if you get a better intake (base and runners). It's a stout cam for a 305, and that intake chokes up high.
Some later 305s were running low 14's in near stock form, so with these upgrades, high 13's would be easy.
That LT4 cam looks about as small as a stocker with a little more lift, which won't cut it without the benefits of LT4 heads, compression, intake, etc...
Good luck

the only 305s in the low 14s were a few "diamond in the rough" 5speed cars. almost any stock 5speed car you will find will run a mid 14 at best, most are in the high 14s. 13s however are not unatainable or super expensive. as soon as i get my chip this week i'll see what my car will run, it should go 13s after i install the chip. you can check my sig. also do a search for other guys in the 13s with a 305, there are a few guys doin it, see what they are runnin.
