383 hot cam
Hi I am new to the board i was wondering what would i have to use i nthe way of valve spings on LB9 heads with the hot cam and would i have to have the heads machine for clearence on for the springs (using 1.5 rockers)

Scoggin dickey sells a spring, lock and retainer set that will fit the stock spring pocket and is good up to .600 lift for $93. They install at 1.800" though so you will need to make sure you have the room for them. The valve guide clearance will need to be checked for running the hotcam, as it may be close to smacking the retainer against it. I would suggest putting screw in studs in also. Because of manufacturing tolerances the heads vary a little, so I would check both sides, and not take any action untill you have checked your own heads before deciding what to do.

I would go bigger with it but i simply dont have the cash right now plus i want a little bit of fuel economy as well. i will also have to buy a trans before long after this engine is in becasue i have a t-5 i imagine from whati read i should be ok with clearences but i dont know till i can accully measure the hieght and all thanks for the reply guys
