If your looking at Holley Stealth Ram (HSR) I would suggest looking at Tuned Port Induction Specialties (TPiS) Mini Ram intake as well. It is a one piece design intake with drastically shorter intake runners, 3"-4" by comparison to GM's 11"-12" runner length, this will allow for higher rpm horse power, however there will be a drop in off the line torque, kind of a drag, but i like the sound of pulling hard all the way to 6500. on there engine development page they have a stock L-98 with unported aluminum vette heads and their ZZ-9 cam, fairly mild, that pulled 377.8hp at 5500 and 400.2 ft/lbs at 4500. the company claims something like 70 to 80 hp gain over stock TPI with mild mods cam and exhaust, and over 100 hp gain with better heads and a more aggressive cam. you do need the fuel rail kit to use the intake because the angle of the rail is different. manifold is around $800 plus 2 something for the rail and fuel line kit to make the install easy. will require a new PROM and some dyno tuning. if you have the money they offer a stand alone engine managment system with mini ram kit. basically kills 50 birds with one huge fu ck ing stone at $3700. When i get the money and finish building my current engine this system is what i am leaning twards. HSR does not clear the Firebirds hood so I am partial.

It will clear the hood with minimal modification. IMO, cutting out one brace is a small price to pay compared to the cost of a MiniRam.

when i said it did not clear, i meant without cutting. if i does not fit with out modification it does not fit....you have to make it fit. personally i would rather not modify my hood bracing, but that's just cause i'm a perfectionist. i'd rather have something that was designed to fit with no modification. just my $.02

Hmm, youre entitled to your opinion. I just hope you dont ever have to put together a mostly-aftermarket engine, modification is just part of the game.

1) TPiS Mini-ram
2) Holley Stealth-ram
3) Linginfelter super-ram
4) LT1 intake (Fits with modifications)
5) Accel super-ram base and high flow runners
6) TPiS Large mouth intake and Large mouth runners
7) Edlebrock intake with High flow runners
8) SLP Siameased runners (not sure if they make the lower intake or not)
9) Arizona Speed & marine siameased runners (not sure if they make the lower intake or not)

These are all of the optional intakes for the L98 I could think of...Which is best? Well that all depends on what u want outta the motor. U wanna just go fast then MINI Ram..u want Low end torque then TPIS Large mouth set-up. Lots of power for cheap HSR or LT1. And the all around set-up...Super ram.

Hope this helps!

Do you have to be smog legal? Some of those intakes mentioned above are not smog legal. Allen
