Dyno'd the IROC today

Got the IROC dyno'd today w/ the NW Ohio F-body Association up at Livernois. They have a Mustang dyno, attached are the results.

My comments:

1. The motor is still completely untuned. We tried to hook up the Craig Moates software for the dyno runs, but the laptop wouldn't connect to the ecm for some reason.

2. They couldn't start at a low enough rpm to catch the tq peak, but I'd guess it peaks out around 380-ish rwtq based off the graph.

3. There was a "hiccup" on the 1st run, as you can see the big dip in the graph.

4. Peak HP was 332 rwhp at 5000 rpm, this combo should peak around 5300-5400 or so, obviously needs tuning, especially in the higher rpm's.

5. I'm pretty happy with the 300+rwhp from 4250-6000 rpm.

Nope, still for sale. I'll mess with the tuning until I sell it though. I already have the tuning equipment, so all it costs is time.

Those are great #'s, esp. considering it's a mustang dyno. I don't think you'll see more than 10-15hp from tuning, since your running a MAF car. I've talked to too many vette guys that know this from exp. What it comes down to is how well the engine was machined and put together and how well the rings are sealing to determine how similar engines sometimes vary greatly in hp when strapped to the dyno. Great gains are not usually found in MAF cars, unless the A/F is way off or there's a fuel prob. or something like that.

Anyway Buck, great job w/ the #'s, someone obviously put that motor together right, unlike my old 383 w/ the exact same setup that ran only 13.30's at 101mph. I was running MAF and the same chip as you, so you see what a difference shorblock machining makes?

Peace,
Joe

BuckeyeROC,

I now regret not stopping by at the dyno session that you went to in Michigan. I would have loved to see your car on the dyno and met up with you. For me, My '99 SS goes back on the street this coming Friday nite. And my '87 IROCZ is in about 1,000
pieces.

Did you get a wide band printout?

Any idea what your air/fuel curve looked like?

Nice looking power curve though, nice and fat.

Doc, the LS1 looks like it's running great! Gotta love the LS1.

OMINOUS_87, no wb readout, didn't hook it up. I was going to use a friend's wb and the moates software, but we had computer probs all day, i don't know what's up. Sometimes the computer hooks up w/ the car and sometimes it doesn't.

As soon as we figure it out, I plan to make some runs on the street and get some data logged.

Well, I hit the rollers tonight with my SR motor.

These numbers were put down with the stock throttle body, I think it holding me back.
