TPI swap - won't start
Hi, i swapped an 89 350 TPI into my 87 2.8 firebird. The engine cranks but won't start. I have spark (took out a spark plug and watched for spark while cranking) and i have fuel to the engine at least, and i have power to the fuel injectors. Would there be a reason why maybe the injectors aren't firing. I don't seem to be getting power to the MAF though. Is there a pinout on the ALDL connector that powers this, or the power relay? What else could be the problem? Will it still start without the MAF getting power?
Any help is appreciated, thanks

Wasn't VATS introduced in 1989 in the f-bodies?
EDIT: Ok, did a search... Looks like VATS started in 1989... So if you haven't hooked up the VATS system or gotten a chip with VATS disabled, your injectors won't fire...

Hello 87T-TopBird,
When you did this engine swap, did you swap the wiring harness and all the associated components from the 89 to the 87 car. This includes the VATS control module, starter enable relay, computer, VATS ignition lock cylinder. Yes,it will start without the MAF being connected. How much fuel pressure are you getting to the fuel rail. There was another individual on the board recently who had a similar problem with his injectors not working. After he cleaned the nozzles on the injectors with carb cleaner I believe, they worked fine. They had been used injectors and the needles inside them were stuck.

thanks for the replies. I've summed it up to no fuel injector pulsing. ( i get 12V to both sides of the injector with key on, but when i crank, my test light don't light up when connected to the two sides of the injector) When i did the swap i got everything except the vats control module stuff. I'm trying to use a circuit bypass that i got from fieroaddiction.com but i guess it isn't working too well! Car does crank, and there is spark though,
