help tuning my tpi
I have an 89 tpi 350 Formula with AFR 190 heads 68cc 2.02 int;1.6 exh. ZZ9 cam, 1.6 gold extruded rockers, 24 lb svo injectors, afpr, gutted MAF, 58mm throttle body ported and siamesed runners(SLP), siamesed upper and lower intakes, edelbrock tes headers to 2.5 pipes into 3 in collector to flowmaster.
I ran another L98 buddy of mine and smoked him by 4 cars in the quarter but it seems to be the same. I used to take him by only 1 or 2 but that doesn't seem right. I ran a couple of standard lt1s and beat them by 2 cars in the quarter but I dont have a quater mile time because it is just a marked off strip. Oh and all of 1st and midway into 2nd just spin. What should I do now?? Anyone have any tuning tips?? It isn't fast enough!!!!

What is your 60' time and what is the trap speed????
The trap speed is a very good indicator of your RWHP.
Also, to find out what your engine is doing, you need a scanner.
For tuning purposes, the minimum have to have item is a fuel pressure regular. Working with a scanner, the timing and the fuel pressure, you can pick up alot IF you are not close to the best set of parameters.

I agree you need a scanner. With different cam/heads/injectors I am guessing you have a custom prom right? If not that will help a ton with your setup.
If you already have a custom prom, traction will help more than anything. If you are spinning through 1st and most of second, and still beating those cars, you are definitely making some power. Suspension mods like lower control arms, subframe connectors, adjustable shocks/struts and torque arm will all help with traction. Get some drag radials to run around on the street. Built motors are great, but a waste if you can't get the power to the ground...once you get enough traction, the next best thing will be a torque converter around a 3000 stall (maybe more, depending on your torque curve-which btw you might want to go to the dyno to see what kind of power you are making)...HAVE FUN

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I say leave the motor alone and get that power hooked up better. Suspension & tires are next.

Yeah I am using my stock prom right know I had one form Ed Wright but it wouldn't run my car. I think I really need one! I agree with the suspension issue. But I raced my friends ls1 z28 auto and I held dead even 1st and 2nd me spinning and he took like a car on me up till around 88 and we slowed down!Damnit

I'd say some new LCAs would be a nice start for planting the rear a little better... I have the edelbrock ones on my gta and what a difference!!
I'll also second the custom prom.. Learning to do it yourself can be very rewarding (I'm diggin' it!! )!
