Why Hyd. Roller cost so much $$$
Why does a hyd. roller cam cost so much more than any other cam? For example:
Crane Powermax Cams
194* 204* 401" 423" p/n crn-114112 Standard Hyd. w/lifters
$154.95
194* 204* 407" 429" p/n crn-104211 Hyd. Roller, without lifters
$269.88
Difference in $114.93
Is the actuall cam (not profile) different?
Just another way of making more money?

Roller cams are made from billet steel rather than soft iron like flat tappets. It's more expensive to machine.
Also, even if a roller and a flat tappet had the same profile the roller still makes more power through the RPM range, even though peak power will be nearly the same.
